Covered Sun Films will be back to work before 2023 comes to an end. Their newest film, Mercury will shoot at the very end of the year and should be available in early 2024.

Mercury tells the story of two estranged friends who come face to face for the first time in decades. As they discuss events that took place years prior, they relive the good and bad times that led to their estrangement.

“Mercury is at alternating times fun and poignant. We have a truly top notch cast that we can’t wait to work with. We’re really excited for this one.” Director Wayne Cella said of the project.

Playing the leads in the present will be Jefrey B. Wilkerson and Isaac Conner. Wilkerson is a Philadelphia based actor known for his roles in Dinner for Two and Jericho. Conner is a New York based actor known for his roles in No Good Deed and The Improviser.

Playing the younger versions of the characters will be Jake Blakeslee and Benjamin Elliott. Blakeslee recently appeared in 12 Games of Christmas on the GAF network. Elliott will appear in the upcoming short Mislead. Both actors have extensive on stage experience.

Rounding out the cast will be John Schaub and Michael Marston. Schaub is fresh from roles in Leave the World Behind and The Redemption of Ricky Grey. Marston appeared in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and Heart of Gold.

Mercury begins filming on December 28th. The short is a proof of concept for a feature film and is based on an unreleased memoir by Wayne Cella titled “The Pine Barons.” Cella will be joined on the project by Mark Nox as Director of Photography and Producers, Collin Roach and Asha Brown.
